Bye bye!

Today I just finished my last exam paper in NUS. So, it’s really time to say goodbyeS. Well, I shall not recap how my life has been in the past 4 years. Of course there were ups and downs, happy and sad moments, I guess what I learned is to live with them and move on with an open heart.

After the paper, the group of us went to watch Iron Man! Again, I’m not a fan of super hero movies. But I do think Iron Man is one of the best among them. Unlike other super heroes, Iron Man is Tony Stark and Tony Stark is Iron Man. But the advancement in technology kinda scared me… How can one man know every single part of a missile and the exact mass of a material in a particular part of it?! On a side note, our group, as ‘material scientists’, were somehow quite fascinated by the idea that the Iron Man suit was made of gold titanium alloy, and the discussion went on…. About materials…. Ha! This is not the first time. We always tend to use very ’scientific’ terms on something very trivial.

Hmmm… It has been a long time since I blogged anything. I think the past 2 weeks have been quite happening, but I just forgot how and why somehow. Oh, I had a haircut, this time pretty short. I think it’s not bad, but my tuition kid commented that I looked very young , i.e. bully-able in this hair style. This is how it looks….

That day Hong Lin came over to my house to stay over. Song Lin, Hong Lin and me chatted overnight. She told me a lot ’scary’ stories about teaching. Difficult as it sounds, this is what I have chosen for my career. So I think I shall just try my best, so that I won’t live with regret in the future.

I think I digressed too much. Ha! Time for my final vacation before work starts. Here is what’s going to happen:

14-22 May: Grad trip to Australia

26 May – 12 June: Home sweet home!

Not to forget that I still have driving test before I can go off for holiday. Wish me luck! Time to graduate! Hooray again!

T3 Encore Une Fois

Today is the 2nd day of our FYP presentation, which means, everybody is free after today! So we met up at Bedok MRT at 530pm and headed down to Bedok 85 market for dinner. The food was super oily/spicy/sinful! Here is the spread of food we had…

After dinner, since it was still early, the 7 of us went to Changi Airport Terminal 3. Today is 2nd time I went there. First time was during its open house last year. T3 doesn’t seem to be as busy as T1. It is far more spacious and the aircon is way more powerful. We decided to have drinks at TCC. The drinks there are…. NOT cheap. I ordered Ice Minty Mocha. This is how it looked like at the start…

Other than its pretty look, it actually had nothing really special. The mint taste was not strong, so not very refreshing.. But just yakking with a group of friends without worrying about class/test/FYP was so enjoyable! Here are the happy us!

I didn’t know my phone camera can take photo like this. Not to forget the gentleman who took this photo (the gentleman between me and Angel)..

Tomorrow is the last day of lecture in NUS. Gonna try out the academic dress. Finally I feel that I’m going to graduate!

3 Ways to Celebrate!

My FYP has finally come to the end! Haha! My final presentation ended at 330pm and was followed by a series of celebrations! The first way was to have a cup of ’screw driver’ (vodka+orange juice) at home. Don’t be mistaken. I’m not an alcoholic. I was just drinking orange juice, when I suddenly spotted the bottle of vodka I opened when sy came to stay over. So… I added it in a little bit. Lol.

Dinner was at Whitedog Cafe at Vivocity. The food was okay. Here are what we had…

Creamy Salmon Pasta. The pasta was quite nice. The cream sauce was rich and smooth, and white wine in the sauce made it less thick, so that people wouldn’t feel sick of it easily. I liked it.

This dish is called P.S. Love. What kinda weird name… Anyway, it was just prawns and scallop wrapped in bacons then grilled. The scallop tasted very good! The prawns were a bit disappointing. Not juicy enough. An interesting dish anyway. We also shared triple mushroom soup, which to my opinion was not creamy enough, even though the taste of mushroom was very strong.

After dinner, I rushed down to 6th Ave for tuition. Had some more fruits and ice cream there. Lol. My student’s mother was super nice to me, and she seemed to work very hard to feed me fat.

After tuition, I headed down to Cheveron’s with Leng for bowling. I haven’t bowled for a week. Surprisingly, today I bowled quite well. Very few reverse hook, and I managed to open the game with a strike! Lol. For those who don’t know my level of bowling, my first ball always headed towards the drain instead of the pins. :D

Got to go sleep now. Tomorrow afternoon I have driving lesson. Need to have more rest so that I won’t lose my concentration easily like the past 2 weeks. Gonna have dinner with MSE people at Bedok 85 tomorrow evening. Looking forward to it.

Hooray! FYP is finally over!

The Bucket List

I went to watch ‘The Bucket List’ with Leng on Wednesday. I liked it, although it made me cry until my eyes were swollen the next day. It was the best movie I have watched in the past few months. My previous movies were Jumper and AVP 2. Not really my cup of tea.

The story was about 2 men, Edward, who was a billionaire and Carter, who was a mechanics. They were complete strangers until they shared one hospital room and were both given 6 months to a year to live. They made a list of things they wanted to accomplish before they would kick the bucket. As they went on with their adventure, they became friends, and helped each other realize the true meaning of life. It was filled with humor, but I teared badly towards the end when Carter’s wife kissed him for one last time when he died. It reminded me of my grandpa, who passed away almost 2 years ago, how I wasn’t beside him at the last moment of his life, how I couldn’t see him for the last time. I really miss him…

I realize that I tear a lot when I watch movie or TV. Top 3 tear catalysts for me:

1. One Litre of Tears: One box of tissue paper

When Aya cries, I cry with her. When she smiles, I cry even harder. Bravest gal ever. She fought for 10 years before the disease eventually took her life.

2. 霸王别姬: one packet of tissue

I started crying 5 minutes into the movie, till the end. I just couldn’t stop my tears from rolling down. There was nothing they could do. Their lives were not up to them to control it. One of Leslie’s most classic movie. He took his own life in real life just as the role in the movie.

3. 穆斯林的葬礼: half a box of tissue

It is a book, about 2 generations of a family. They had the people they really loved, but couldn’t be together with them. The war, the cultural revolution, the difference in religion… How powerless people were in face of them.

P.S. I bought Juno soundtrack! I absolutely love it. I love the movie too! Missed it when it was showing, so I had to stream it on tudou with lousy quality.

Bright Orange

My mum always says that people who truly love life love colors. I just changed my quill cover and pillow cases to bright orange. I’ll try to love my life a bit more…

Yesterday I was in a really bad mood. It made me remember my JC time. In J2, I was acting in a Chinese drama production, and my role was a mother of a introvert boy with an alcoholic husband. There was one scene that my ‘husband’ supposed to push me onto the floor and I supposed to start crying after that. At that time, it doesn’t matter how hard I tried, I just couldn’t think of one thing that could make me tear. I miss those times, when I was so carefree and life just went easy on me. Concentrating on one thing was so easy unlike nowadays…

My holiday was cut short again by stupid China Eastern Airline. I swear that once I start earning money, I will never ever take flights by China Eastern again.

Sleeping Queen

I have been sleeping hell a lot these few days, on average 12 hours per day. I don’t know whether it is still because of the flu bug, or I am simply going into hibernating mode.

Anyway, I went for bowling on Saturday evening at Orchid Country Club. Was surprised by the crowd there. OCC is at a very ulu place near Yishun and is extremely inaccessible (don’t even think of going there if you don’t own a car). I played quite horribly. I didn’t know what I was doing, where I was aiming at and not to mention my terrible posture. Only managed to score 100 at the last game. The scores of the other 2 games were very pathetic. After bowling, we went for a short KTV session. I find Tanya Chua’s most recent album really nice, very suitable to listen to while lazing around. Well, I always like this kinda music anyway. Finally booked air ticket back home, but seat is still not confirmed.  I’ll reach home on 23rd May morning. Cannot wait for holiday to come!

It has been very long since I blogged. I feel my English is getting more and more rusty, so I guess it’s not a bad idea to start blogging again. Still trying to figure out how this blog works. Hopefully will come back with more updates!

I am sick for these 2 days… I just kept sneezing like nobody’s business and spent my precious time (when I should be working hard on my honors year thesis) sleeping. I rarely have flu and thanks to the lovely someone who passed me the virus, I had to keep my tissue box within reach so that my sneeze wouldn’t create a mess. I guess I need to get back to thesis now. Bowling in the evening! And I am a weird bowler because I play reverse hook naturally…

Just a photo I took on New Year Eve at Mount Faber. I think I looked quite tired….
